Edward Woodward: Dead

Veteran actor Edward Woodward, who was known for his roles in The Wicker Man and The Equalizer, died today.
The 79-year-old had been suffering from various illnesses, including pneumonia, and died in hospital, his agent said.

Janet Glass released a statement praising his "brave spirit and wonderful humour".

It said: "Universally loved and admired through his unforgettable roles in classic productions such as Breaker Morant, The Wicker Man, Callan,
The Equalizer and many more, he was equally fine and courageous in real life, never losing his brave spirit and wonderful humour throughout his illness.

"He was further sustained by the love of his wife, Michele, children, Tim, Peter, Sarah and Emily, his grandchildren and numerous friends.

His passing will leave a huge gap in many lives."

R.I.P Sir! Great actor, loved The Equalizer. Used to be allowed to stay up and watch it on a school night. Think it was 9pm on a Thursday. Ace!

Of course, his role in The Whicker Man will always be remembered, and he was excellent in the fantastic TV drama 'Common as Muck'.

RIP Edward, a great actor indeed. I concur with Docks Equalizer & Common As Muck comments

I thought that The Equalizer was utter shite and he was so wooden in it that for most of the show I got him confused with furniture.

Watch it again when they repeat it and then, next time we meet, look me in the eyes and tell me it was good.

Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer.

Absolutely, it's fine for youngsters then, but watch it now and the man makes pinocchio look like real life. Also plots, shite and basically the same, other acting, shite, action scenes, laughable.

It was shite and he was shite in it.

It's hammy by chance not design.

UFO now that was proper older kids drama.

Ewar Woowar - ea!

I thought Equaliser was shite.

As for his singing

Sir Bulldog Craggwood

Re: Fuck all to watch/do in the 80's? C'mon Bulldawg, it wasn't all bad. In the 80's I was between 7-16 so I watched:

The Fall Guy
Kids of Degrassi Street
Kids of Degrassi Junior High
Knightrider
Murphys Mob
Airwolf
Brookside (when it was good)
The Cosby Show
The A Team
The Chart Show
The Red Hand Gang
Cheers
Only Fools & Horses
Grange Hill
The Monkees (yes, they were repeats, but the 6 week holidays wouldn't have been the same without them)
Press Gang
Dempsey & Makepeace

To name but a few. Ace!

P.S. The Equalizer was ace Miguel, have a Werthers you cantankerous old tyke.

TV trivia fact, shortly after they got engaged to be married (or were they just married, I'll check later) at a party, the bloke from Demps & Make stuck his tongue down Mrs Mick's throat, as a family friend at half his age, she pushed him away. The friendship ended soon afterwards.

No Dock, it was shit but you were too young to realise it, you couldn't watch it now with destroying a treasured childhood memory.

You might have a point there Miguel. I used to think Miami Vice was the mutts nuts, and saw an episode on dvd recently and it was babakaka.

Re: Mrs. Mick getting acosted. Was the friendship a total right off or did they manage to MAKEPEACE?

Coat, XR3I Cabriolet, Mean Streets of London.

In retrospect i was being a bit harsh. He was quite good in The Wicker Man.

Better than that twat Nicholas Cage in the remake anyway.
