Just heard this for the first time on the Jonathon Ross radio show. Love it, maybe the most Motown-inspired song I've ever heard the Woking Wailer do. JR also said that he'd heard Bruce Foxton is to play on Wellers next album.
smiling badger
Really? Foxton to play with Weller again.
Find it hard to believe.

Thats what I thought. But Rossy didn't say it in a jokey way.

Did you hear his version of 'Thinking of you' on the Studio 150 album Dock ? I loved that. Easy to play on the guitar as well.

I heard Janice Long flicking her bean on this new Weller stuff the other night whilst on night shift. I assume it was the same song as its the single. I liked what I heard. Stanley Road is my favorite of all Wellers stuff imho

I've only heard the odd stuff off the covers album. I liked the Rose Royce cover. Should get it really.

Weller And Foxton have been working together recently, they met up at Pauls dads funeral a few months back and started talking,Bruce plays on at least one song on the new PW album and Paul said it was great and it just clicked back into place, but he stated again that there will be no Jam reunion

It always seems to be about £3 in the bargain bin when I see it, I've got it though and like it.

Just purchased it off T'Amazon. New, £1.62 inc. postage. Ace!
*waits for postie*
As for Wellers other albums that I like, my chart rundown (Faves first) would be:
1. Paul Weller (first solo studio album)
2. Wildwood
3. As is Now (which for me has the best single of the last ten years on it: From the Floorboards Up)
4. Stanley Road
5. 22 Dreams
The other albums are ok, but don't rock my socks as much as the above.
P.S. Leb, if I don't like it, will you compensate me with the use of Foo's season ticket for the rest of the season?
bearing
You only likes Wildwood, cause that's where I live!

Love Wild Wood, and think that the drumming on Sunflower is fookin brilliant.
Cant say that i have listened to any other of his albums, dont know why.
But i will give one of Docks recommendations a go.

His first album (him on the cover with a white shirt and questionable hairstyle) is faultless Badge, and it's often his most overlooked. Includes Into Tomorrow, Uh Huh Oh Yeh, The Strange Museum, and Above the Clouds amongst many others (see link)

Oh its like that is it? I felt sure Stanley Road would be your favorite Dock after all that's the one with a picture of George Best on!

I have to say that i am singularly unimpressed with Weller and his solo stuff. I hate that he is held up as some sort of demi-god. He is not, he's a prat from the mean streets of Woking.

I don't know what happened to Weller. I liked the SC but his solo stuff is just pedestrian beyond belief - first exhibit - Peacock Suit. His lyrics are just awful.

No need to rob FooFoo of watching LU slide into play-off obscurity. The Studio 150 album arrived on Friday, and I like it. Decent collection of covers, but 'All Along the Watchtower' was crap. he should have left that well alone.

Point of bastard order. Said because after a safe and substantial point difference, LU have scraped a couple of draws/results with clubs who earlier in the season they would have seen off, and Charlton have shortened the gap to two points between us and them. Only speaking on facts lad. I hope they get promotion without a glich, but it's not looking like that is going to be as signed, sealed, delivered as any of us thought.

Sorry, it's from lack of sleep worrying about Sheeps switch to cable.

Chanced on a channel called Vintage TV (369 for those Sky viewers amongst us) and there was an hour long compilation of PW' vids. Style Council and all that great early nineties solo stuff. He's a fucking national treasure that lad. I love Paul Weller me. Here's one of his later gems. Looking good on this Paul. Should have stuck with this barnet instead of the current Joe Brown stylee.

Have you seen Ian McCullochs hair lately? Back in the day he had the coolest hair bar none but now he looks like that bloke who asks for a quid outside Leeds Market.
